Chapter Scholarships

In 2005, our chapter will be awarding only two grants of $300.00 each–rather than the three we usually provide–to students from northern San Diego County high schools. The scholarships are awarded to students preparing to attend accredited four-year colleges or universities, or community colleges.

Eligibility:

To qualify for an award, a student must have demonstrated dependability, leadership, and service in the home, school, and community. Academic requirements are a minimum SAT score of 1100 AND a GPA of 3.5 or higher. He or she must be a 2005 graduate of a north San Diego County high school.

Deadline and Application Procedures:

An application form must be filled out by the student and all requested information must be provided. The complete application package must be mailed to the Scholarship Committee Chairperson of the Edith Macias Vann Southern California Chapter of the Women Marines Association at the address on the application form.

Application packages must be postmarked no later than March 18, 2005. The Scholarship Committee will meet on April 15, 2005 to choose the recipients.

Questions? Contact your school counselor. By late-January 2005, your counselor will have received a letter from the Edith Macias Vann Southern California Chapter of the Women Marines Association detailing this information.

Women Marines Association Scholarship Program

The national organization of the Women Marines Association awards grants to qualified applicants sponsored by WMA members. The grants may be used at any accredited college, university, or college-level trade school. Full details are available from members of the Women Marines Association, but basic information is provided here.
